1st week of July activities

This is a short week of classes at the Caldwell YMCA. We Celebrate our Independence

Day on Friday the 4th. I know everyone likes to celebrate with family and friends and bar-b-ques and fireworks and lots of “long weekend” activities. Every year, my husband and I, host a large open gathering of friends, family, (sometimes new acquaintances) to our home to enjoy this favorite national holiday. Everyone is invited…. So gather up your friends and family, a lawn chair and a side dish to share (we have hamburgers/hot dogs/sausage dogs/buns/condiments/water/and paper ware/plastic ware) and find a space on our curb as we all watch the City of Caldwell’s annual parade march right in front of our house. We’ll serve up some snacks, and some glorious patriotic music (envision a Normal Rockwell painting of an old house with the American flag hanging in front and a parade going buy and everyone is eating watermelon!)….and then we'll head over to our side yard .........we have all kinds of activities and food and tables (well, a few tables, so bring your blankets to picnic on if you are late!)….all we ask is you bring a side dish (or 2 if you have a large family?) to share…. We even offer an ice table for those cold dishes…. You can make you own party by bringing your own friends and family or you can socialize with everyone else…. Sometimes it’s a large crowd and sometimes it’s a little smaller… but it’s a great opportunity to meet and greet and enjoy our big summer holiday. Our historical home will be open that day…. So you may take a self-guided tour (or guided, I can take you though) our home, which everyone is always curious to see the inside! It should be a fun time.

Be warned… this week at the YMCA will be a short week for classes… therefore, I intend to take full advantage of increasing our workload just a bit, so we can enjoy those holiday treats on Friday, ‘guilt-free’. Oh yeah!!! See you in July!
